Crescent Bound Review

February 24, 2012

****Re-release and revised with minor content corrections.*****
*****This is an adult novel with language/situation/sexual scenes. Recommended for 18+*****
Alyssa Worthington is the daughter and sole heir to the most prestigious coven in the witch world.
Her childhood has been spent in the mundane human world learning to blend in and hide who she truly is, and it is here, during her last year that she meets a striking ex-high school quarterback from a small town in Montana who will turn her world upside down.

Alyssa holds the element of fire, unlike her best friends Lisa and Megan, who are both air elemental's. It is the elemental powers that reside inside which require positive thoughts and positive actions in order to maintain this magickal connection. What would happen to a witch that let this get out of control? How can evil become the driving force behind revenge and death?

Dark secrets, dark magick and a desperate desire for revenge will bring Alyssa to the brink of destruction. She is being chased, but this pursuit is a silent one and her chaser has but one goal, Alyssa's complete and total destruction. Will she overcome this dark threat and begin to live out her destiny? Will she survive and if so, will she lose herself as part of the price for being alive? Or, will her destiny rest on being crescent bound?

First I want to mention that I was asked to do a review for this author. The book was free so I purchase her first book in the Crescent Bound Series (will be purchasing the rest and doing a review as well). This book grabs you from the beginning. Some books, you have to read a few chapters to get into .. not this book. She "sink line and hooks you" right from the start. Alyssa, a witch , living in the human world, going to school, with her 3 best friends, finds her senor year a big change in her life. She thought cloaking herself would keep her out of the radar, out of drama from the 'human' world.... WRONG!  Just getting out of a 2 year relationship with a life long friend.  She didn't think she would fall for anyone ... or find that life mate.... esp in a human! Or was he?
In all the changes she inures in life... a enemy was thrown in the mix. While fighting for her life she enters a "world" where she is fighting a spirit mad at her for taking her desired mate.
This is a awesome first book for a whole series!

Dr. Gabriel North blamed himself for his wife’s death. Now, after two years of battling guilt and meaningless hookups, he’s ready to move on. One night with the woman who makes him feel alive again isn’t enough, but gaining her trust as a man was going to take more than medical school had prepared him for.

I am sad the book was just a novella! It was great! The author does a great job getting you into the story and the charters quickly and sets up the steamy hot love~lust that unfolds.

The Blood She Betrayed Review

Purchase : Amazon
October 30, 2013
Book 1 in the Heart Hunters series.
Thrust into the technology-driven Earthlands, Shahkara must find the ancient Elnara death lantern - the only thing that can save her homeworld from the heart-devouring Taloners.

She enlists the help of geeky billionaire Max McCalden, but soon finds that, as a half-Taloner herself, her blood demands what she knows she can't have - a human heart.

Shahkara longs for love, but as deadly enemies attack at every turn, will her lust for Max destroy them both?

Or will she find the strength to free both worlds from a threat more horrific than the demons that share her blood?
(Allowed by Author)
Rats scuttled into the shadows as the dungeon door creaked open and footsteps, only audible to a Taloner, tapped the stone floor. Hanging her head in shame, the princess refused to look
up until the queen’s distinctive perfume of hartshorn and tearose diffused the sickening stench of human waste.
‘Mother!’ Their fingers touched through the iron bars. Tears lashed her eyes.
‘Quickly!’ The queen unlocked the cell. ‘Nimue drugged the outer guards but we have little time.’
A clammy sweat chilled her. ‘No, I will not run. I killed Jada and deserve my fate.’ She shuddered as she imagined the executioner’s axe at her neck.
‘Daughter, your destiny is a many times greater than Jada’s!’
She blinked. For years, she had barely tolerated her mother’s distant, vacillating nature, but even these new, forceful tones could not sway her. ‘I am a monster! I should not be allowed to live.’
‘You are a Taloner with a human heart. Take this! The fate of our kingdom now lies in your hands.’
Her fingers cradled the proffered item: a key with a heart-shaped bow, wrought with a winged figurine – a dragon.
‘This compass will lead you to the Elnara.’
The Elnara? The death lantern that could destroy all Taloners with a single pulse was legend. ‘Mother, that is a fairy tale.’
‘No. The Elnara exists, even if truth has been muddied by time.’
Her fingers tightened around the key. ‘How long have you had this?’
‘It has been in the royal family for centuries but the Elnara is trapped in another dimension. Humans cannot survive that journey.’
‘But a Taloner can?’ Her heart caught in her throat. ‘If my father the King was a Taloner, he would have made this journey then. If I have talons, and neither he nor you are cursed with them, then from what did I come?’
A shadow flitted across her mother’s face. ‘You must not ask.’

I was given a PDF of this book from the Author to do a honest review. I was very excited to read this book! It wasn't your normal Vampire, Warewolf,  YA fantasy novel. It was a new more urban fantasy. The author did a great job getting you to understand, relate and care about the characters... and even want to rip peoples hearts out.... or have their heads rolling on the floor. I loved the main characters Shah' and Max! There was so many twist and turns it was great!!! I hated having to put the book down!  I read alot of books... try to read a couple a week.. and you know there are books that you know whats going to happen before it happens... this is not that kind of book! I loved it and will have to read the second book! If you enjoy reading a romance novel, action, "sifi", or PA book this is your book! If you want a change of scenery this is the book!

Deviation Cover Reveal!

Deviation, book 2 in the Clone Chronicles

Protect. Obey. Sacrifice.
These words are the mantra of my existence. I’m not sure if it’s Titus Rogen inspiring my desire to go against what I am or my own DNA deviating. All I can think is how Titus will look when he meets his end. It trumps even my wish for freedom. In this moment, I want nothing more than to watch the life bleed from Titus’s body. And I want it at my own hands.
Titus. The Creator.
I stare at my palms. Strength aside, I wonder if I’m capable of taking a life. A human life; one with a soul. And I wonder if that isn’t easier than taking the life of an Imitation. At least humans have souls that live on. What do I have after this? Where will I go? Back into a syringe? Will Titus recycle me? Or will I be lost forever down a lab drain?
We don’t deserve that.
We don’t deserve him.
Deserving and receiving are so very different here. And I am beginning to understand, to beat someone in this world, I‘ll have to play in it.

In book six of the Galactic Cage Fighters: Zen the Sin is the hottest male in the Galaxy according to the Galactic Times and every woman who attends a GCFA fight. Being charming comes naturally to Zen, giving him the ability to play the part of the Galactic Cage fighter playboy—well. He poses with fans, signs autographs, and is a pro at doing commercials. No one sells sex better than Zen the Sin. So when the Galactic Times sends a female to do a two week long expose; it should have been just another day in the life of Zen the Sin. Problem is, she doesn’t seem to fall for his usual playboy routine nor does she seem swayed by his good looks.
Shawna Baker jumps at the opportunity by the magazine she works for and agrees to do an in-depth interview with the fighter known as Zen the Sin. She has been waiting for this day to come for years, a chance to travel on the Galactic Cage Fighters ship and get to learn about a man from her past. The only drawback is having to deal with a well-known womanizer but decides that if he gives her a hard time then she would dig up dirt on him, there should be plenty. What she doesn’t count on, is Zen isn’t all he seems to be—he has many layers, discovering the easy going man is much more complicated. Against her will she becomes instantly intrigued by him, leaving her craving to peel back each layer to find the real man underneath.
Not everyone is happy with Shawna’s presence on board the GCFA ship, including a mother who is furious with her for taking the job and does not want her to have anything to do with the halfsies, especially Zen. Things soon become complicated and dangerous when her presence provokes one of Zen’s fans—one who has begun to stalk him.
Will Shawna get past her preconceptions and her mother’s hatred of all halfsies? Will Zen open up, allowing someone to get close to him? Can they overcome the hate and fear before it tears them apart? Or will Zen’s easy nature be his downfall when the stalker turns deadly?

Stuck in Between

Blakely Bennett

Cover Revel!

I shook out my hair, put my shoulders back and stood as straight as possible. I wouldn’t let Red intimidate me. When I strutted over to him, his expression left me confused. He’d always been so cold, like a granite statue and yet, I couldn’t read the new side to him.
“Why did you want me to come and what did you mean? Wait … no … shit, what I really wanted to say was that I appreciate you coming to get me.”
“Let’s go have a drink.”
“A drink?”
“Yes, you could use one.”
“Would you stop doing that?” I said, squinting up at him through the outside house light that cascaded around him.
“Doing what? I just offered you a drink,” he said, resting his back against his vehicle and folding his arms in front of him.
“No, you said I needed one. You’re so bossy.”
He laughed and said, “You bring it out in me. I’ll do my best to temper the urge.”
“You have urges?”
“You don’t want to know,” he said, glaring down at me.
“Oh … I,” I stuttered, my nipples flaring at his intent. I crossed my arms over my chest as well.
Grabbing my hand, he pulled me along with him into the house and through the main sitting area. Dreamworld played through the sound system. Cat gave me a questioning look as Red led me into the kitchen. I shrugged my shoulders back to her. He opened the refrigerator, fingered a Mike’s Lemonade and a bottle of Dos Equis, popped the caps and swooped up my hand again in his large palm, leading me out to the back.
I loved all the palms and the large stone deck around the Jacuzzi and pool. His two-story home sat on the intracoastal waterway, allowing him to keep his boat right behind the house.
Two guys I didn’t recognize sat at the wrought iron table by the pool, smoking cigarettes.
“Hey Ray, Charlie, glad you could make it,” Red said, pausing but not releasing my hand.
“Thanks for the invite. She’s a tiny one,” one of the guys said, tilting his head in my direction.
“She makes up for it with a big mouth,” Red said with a smug expression.
I tried to pull my hand out of his grip, but he held on so tight I had to use my free hand to punch him in the shoulder. I would have preferred to punch his jaw but I figured it would hurt me more than him to hit the sharp edge of his face.
His friends chuckled, leaving me even more incensed.
“And he makes up for his Neanderthal size with his small personality or at least that’s what he calls it,” I said, purposefully looking at his pants.
That made his friends fall out in hysterical laughter and I felt rather proud of myself.
“Come on, you,” he said, dragging me back inside and up the stairs to his bedroom.
I had never been in there before. So neat and organized, it could have been a room in an upscale hotel except for the antique furniture on either side of the fireplace and the art on the walls. A chair sat near the entrance to the room, a pair of slacks over the back of it.
“What the hell is going on with you Red?” I said as I finally managed to pull my hand away from his. “You’ve never given me much notice over the years. How long has it been?”
“Five years.”
“I’ve been putting up with your crap for five years? Jesus.” I took the lemonade from his hand and took several swallows.
“Take it easy, Jacqs,” he said, closing the door behind him and leaning back against it.
“Stop telling me what to do, would you?”
“I can’t help myself,” he said with a slight smile.
“Try.” I sat on the edge of the bed, putting plenty of distance between us.
“I didn’t much care for your joke.”
“Your friends rather liked it and you started it. Don’t fuck with me and I won’t fuck with you back.”
“Do you have to talk like that? It’s very unattractive.”
“What the fuck … shit …um heck do you want from me?” I drank more to boost my courage.
“I’m warning you, Jacqs.”
“Warning me? From what? What will you do?”
“Don’t push me.”
“I push your buttons without even trying.”
“I’m well aware of that.”
“Are you going to answer me?” I asked. “Because, if not, I’ll just head home.” I stood, finished off my drink and took a step toward the door that he blocked with his massive frame.
He crossed the distance between us, swiped the drink out of my hand, placing both bottles on the corner of his dresser. Before I had a chance to fight or protest he lifted me under my arms, off my feet, and placed my back against the wall. He groaned as if it pained him and then he descended on my mouth with his.
I tried to push him off me, but he remained hard as steel and I finally gave over to the incredible sensations he stirred within me. I took his large face in my little hands and that caused him to groan in pleasure, deepening the kiss. As I wrapped my legs around his bulky frame, he held me closer and carried me over to the antique chair by the door. He sat down with me on his lap, and we just stared at each other for a moment.
Afraid of breaking the spell that I knew would end once reality set in, I sat, waiting. He ran his hands up my neck, followed by his mouth, kissing and nibbling. Chills fluttered down my spine and I moaned, “Oh, Red.” Wetness pooled in my panties and I wanted him to take me. I wanted to know what his cock looked like, tasted like. I didn’t care if we ever spoke again afterwards, or if my motivations stemmed from getting back at Bond. Red had sparked an intense need that required fulfillment and I wanted him to take me.
Running my hands through his short cropped red hair, I pulled his mouth back to mine and he took control. Clutching my wrists, he held them with one hand behind my back, and bit his way down my chest. He unbuttoned the rest of my blouse, pushing the silk down off my shoulders, exposing my breast and hard nipples to the air.
“No bra? You’re naughtier than I imagined.”
“You’ve thought about me?”
“Incessantly. Keep your arms behind you,” he said as ran his hands under my breasts and lowered his mouth. “I had no idea.”
“For such a tiny woman, you have rather large nipples.”
I scrunched my face, not sure if he liked what he saw.
“No need for the funny face, I love them.” He sucked on my right nipple and I closed my eyes in pleasure. His big hands kneaded my flesh and pulled on my left nipple.
“Ohhhh,” I called out, arching into his caresses.
“Shhhh,” he said, “I think I heard something.”
“Don’t stop,” I pleaded.
“Stay the night.”
“That’ll go over well with Bond, for sure.”
“Did you have to mention him?”
The bubble had burst and in my embarrassment, I scurried off his lap and buttoned up my shirt. I glanced in the mirror on the dresser and smoothed out my hair.
He pushed into me from behind, grasping my breast over my shirt. He nipped my earlobe and said, “I’m not done with you, but I need to check on the party below.” He clutched the nape of my neck, turning my head toward him and kissing me one last time. “I’ll see you downstairs.”

Love Came Back

 Pages: 318
Published: January 10,2014
Purchase: Amazon

*****For mature readers, due to sexual content, graphic language, violence and domestic abuse, not intended for young adult readers. *****

Book Descripton:
Danger. Passion. Friendship. Heartbreak. A love that is timeless.
They say if you love someone, you should set them free. What if, you don't have a choice? What if you're forced apart by circumstances out of your control?

Siddaleigh Carrington is a small town girl with big dreams. Konner O'Brian is a young injured Navy SEAL. Neither are looking love. But fate had other ideas.

Just as sparks ignite, Konner is called away to duty and the pair lose contact. Sidda tries to move on... with a man who isn't as he seems.

Years pass and Sidda finds herself face to face with Konner, the man she longed for but thought she would never see again. Konner soon realizes that the woman he once knew is held hostage by a painful past that only he can help her overcome.

And once she's free, Konner is hoping that their love will come back.

I loved the story... I hits so many peoples life, problems, etc.
It is about a young girl, who falls in love at the age of 17, to the guy who she is positive is "The One", she has the tingles when he touches her and everything. He is a Navy Seal so he leaves for a job and they loose contact. She waited and waited for her love to come back, she drug her self down to a complete depression in the wait. She decides to move on. She meets a new guy, who she knew she did not get the same tingle that she got from her first love, but she thought they could be something good. She moves in with him, and finds out he is not what she expected.
She goes through a lot... but in all the crap she delt with and survived from she grew up, and found her self living the life she wanted. But did she have everything?
I'm going to say it again... I did like the story. With everything you like, there is always something you don't like. My opinion of the Dialect between the characters were not like a average person talks to one another. At least not me and my friends or my significant others. One of the characters is from Ireland so he talks with a accent, and there are times where the author was not consistent with the accent.
The sex scene are hot, passionate, and very frequent. ( that is a good thing!) But it is also funny...I don't know what I would do if a guy said some of the things Kon said to me during sex or just as a tease....
Also I do want to add... there were some spelling issues and some grammar issues... but you can tell what the word is suppose to be and what the author is trying to say. As a mom to kids im used to the grammar and spelling.
Sidda is a strong woman and I can't wait to find out more about the characters in this series.
